A wheels and jacks kit is commonly used on Lake Hartwell or lakes that experience a change in water level.  To keep the dock from sitting on dry land many people will move the dock in and out as the water level fluctuates.  This manual movement of the dock is often referred to as “chasing the water”.   The wheels and jacks kit can be used in conjunction with a winching system to simplify the moving of the dock; however, the winches are not a necessity for this task.
